U will always be in my heart Olly + Am a gunner for life!

Good morning, how u dey? How did the weekend go and hope u had a lot of fun? Well my weekend was a low-key; I lost a good friend of mine. Olly was actually a classmate of mine in UNILAG (a very good one), she died after losing a battle with some illness. It was a battle we thought she had won, only to receive the shocking news of her death on Friday 24th Nov. Olaitan Animashaun, we (all her classmates) will all miss you but of course, we are all consoled with the fact that you are headed to a better place up there and baby, just hold your breath cos we shall soon meet where we shall part no more.

Enough of sad and sober talk; my soul was lifted a little on Saturday when my BOYS extended their lead on the league table. You should know what I am talking about, except of course you are from planet mars. The English Premier League has been hottest thing happening in Naija and it is even getting hotter now, and I am a staunch Arsenal supporter, yes…a gunner for life! Arsenal beat Wigan 2-1 and thanks to Nicolas Anelka, our main rivals Man U were beaten 1-0 by Bolton Wanderers. I am not going into the nitty-gritty cos I right now, I am already making enemies by my solemn declaration. But considering what we Arsenal fans have gone through in the last three seasons, I think we deserve to feel good and maybe brag a little. Anyway, I guess we should still keep our fingers crossed till after Christmas.

Nuthing much happened over the weekend except of course the unfolding Siemens scam. More info has come up on the scam but I will let u into the details tomorrow. Gotta go now people, I have got a deadline to keep. See you soon!

SIEMENS SCANDAL +CELEBS TAKING TWO + PROUD TO BE A NIGERIAN

How is everybody this morning? How is the week going for you? My week has been hectic but very interesting. There is a lot to talk about, but let’s start with the disgraceful news that filtered in during the week about the bribery scandal involving telecoms giant Siemens and some Nigerians top government officials. Just when we thought we have heard the last of money scandals in public offices. The recently concluded soap opera in the lower house of the National Assembly(Etteh-gate) is still fresh on our minds and then this…I really don’t know what to say, only that it is deeply distressing. Are we going to ever stop hearing of corruption in high places? When are we going to start producing leaders with integrity, honor and dignity? I guess there are just too many questions and too little answers. What do you think? Do you think there are indeed responsible leaders in our midst? Pls send in your comments.

I was at the recording of the celebrity dance reality, Celebrity Takes Two last Tuesday at Planet One in Maryland, Ikeja and was I impressed with what I saw? I saw our stars really digging it. Who would have thought Pasuma could dance like that? lol. I think the real surprise for me though was Sound Sultan (who has been re-christened Dance Sultan). This dude doesn’t come across to me like someone who can dance and there he is strutting his stuff like he has been waiting for this opportunity all his life. At the end of the show, I think it will be a straight contest between him and the former beauty queen, Omowunmi. Who do you think will win?

Let me ask you a question; are you proud to be a Nigerian? I am indeed proud to be one despite all the wahalas you go through for being one. Recently, I saw a video of Tuface Idibia of one of the songs (if love is a crime) in his last album, Grass to Grace. The video was shot in Ghana and to be sincere I think it was really nice. But I was kind of surprised and maybe a little disappointed when I saw Tu-baba in a T-shirt with Ghana boldly written on it. It’s nothing really, considering the fact that the video was shot in Ghana and he is really loved in that country, but I still think he should have represented Naija. Music, soccer and maybe a few other stuffs have really endeared Nigeria to the rest of the world and I think we should always use every opportunity that we have to rub it in. Akon is a Senegalese, but right now, he is like the hottest thing in the American music industry. That has not stopped him from flying the flag of Senegal anytime he has the chance. If you see him in any music video, you sure will see something that will remind you that he is a Senegalese. We all saw him in videos like (Belly dancer), We taking over by DJ Khalid and the rest of the gang and a host of others. That is the way it should be. Well I have said my own… for me; it’s Naija till I die! What about you?

Got to go now people, see y’all soon…
